hemingwhale:

Book haul from BookExpo America, 2012
Two of my 2013 reading resolutions are at odds with each other: 1) Read all the books waiting on my shelf (vs. buying new books)2) Accept that it’s okay to abandon a book if I’m not into it.
In theory I believe that life is short, and you should read what you love, but in reality I have this deep-seated compulsion to read everything I own cover to cover. I feel like I owe it to each book I bring home. This year, with so many new (and completely miscellaneous) books waiting on the shelves, it’s finally time to weigh my self-imposed book debts against my limited free time for reading.
